Why Eco

Small island developing countries like Samoa are truly remarkable, standing resilient in the face of global challenges! As they lead the charge against climate change, they are also committed to sustainable development. Despite their unique hurdles—such as limited size, isolation, and vulnerability to economic shocks—these nations are determined to thrive and protect their future.

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that plant.” - Robert Louis Stevenson

Carbon Offsetting
Samoa Climate Smart Rainforest Restoration Project

As part of our deep commitment to caring for Samoa’s land (fanua) and sea (moana), we are honoured to partner with Sosaiete Fa’asao Samoa (SFS) / Samoa Conservation Society and the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment (MNRE) through their Carbon Offset Programme.

On Friday 8th August 2025, 300 native seedlings were planted at O le PupÅ« Puè National Park to offset the carbon emissions of our August retreat participants who travelled from Australia.
And on 5th September 2025, a further 200 trees were planted, offsetting the September retreat cohort.

Together, these plantings contribute to Samoa’s 3 Million Tree Campaign, helping restore degraded forest areas, protect biodiversity, and regenerate the ecosystems that sustain life here.

This partnership is more than an offset — it’s our way of giving back. With every retreat, we walk gently, ensuring that as we receive nourishment and connection in Samoa, we also nourish the fanua that nourishes us.

Coral Planting

Coral reefs are often celebrated for their incredible biodiversity and vital role in our planet's health, like rainforests! Did you know that coral is actually an animal related to jellyfish and anemones? These stunning reefs are built by hard corals that secrete calcium carbonate, while the soft corals create beautiful shapes resembling trees, bushes, fans, whips, and grasses. Although these amazing ecosystems face challenges from pollution, unsustainable fishing, and climate change, there’s a wave of hope! Exciting coral propagation efforts are happening all over the globe, including a fantastic initiative at the Samoa Eco Yoga Retreat!

Water Filtration

To address the global issue of plastic bottles in developing countries, we motivated Aga Reef Resort to adopt a Water Filtration system. By hosting the Yoga Retreat at Aga, we assisted the resort in installing the system, allowing yogis and future guests to use their own bottles.
